Fall Bucket List

Back in the Summer I made THIS bucket list and I didn't get too many things accomplished but I did get some things done and to me they were very important.

What I accomplished this summer:
Had cook out with friends
Tried berry picking but plants died from heat
Relaxed and enjoyed the small things
Watched the sunrise many mornings over the last 3 months
Went running ONCE! Hey it's not how many times its I did it at all LOL
Layed out and laked out

Summer was so awesome and even though I love it I'm really looking forward to Fall, the cool weather, and a ton of new adventures!

Now it's time to make a to do list for Fall.  I hope to check almost if not ALL these things off my list

 Come on Fall!

Love Rut

No this isn’t a bad post about love….I’m happier than ever and so in love!!! But being so has caused me to neglect, procrastinate, and even throw other things completely out the window in lieu of spending every minute I can with Hendrik.  This is by no means his fault unless I can blame him for being too cute, funny, fun  to be around, and sexy to boot it is all on me.  I’m entering my fifth week of school and guess how far behind I am…..4 weeks!

YIKES I know!  I just now like…three days…. ago hung up all my clothes and put away clean laundry that’s dated back to the beginning of JULY.  Hey at least it was clean and not dirty!  And my poor work family has been put through the ringer because of all my procrastination on school, PMS, and me being sick last week I was a total bitch!  This week is a bit better but my main goal is that I have to get my butt in gear and get caught up and motivated about school!  I’m so close yet so far away and I’m just not feeling it.  Over the next month and really the rest of the semester my goal is to stay home Monday thru Wed and get homework done, Thursday’s are out because I actually have to go to school straight from work and then Friday kicks off the weekend.  I think if I start getting up a bit earlier to fit in a workout before work I will feel better too!

I can only blame love myself!

Fall TV

Can we talk fall TV for a minute or maybe 30?!  I have come across a new show that I’m in love with + I’m HIGHLY anticipating my all-time favorite shows premiere their new fall season + a show that I know I’m going to love that is a brand new spin off.

o   Pretty Little Liars Halloween Special October 22nd
OMG!  I can’t stand the wait on this show.  I know it’s high school and, like Gossip Girl, it will end in the next year or two because they will all be leaving Rosewood but holy molly the writers keep you hooked through twists and turns so fast and hard I have whiplash.  Piper and I love this show and we are constantly texting back and forth OMGs and What the Hells when something dramatic happens.  Is Ezra “A” or is he just following and worried about Aria now that Maggie and Malcolm are out of the picture?   I can’t wait to see what the spooks they have in store for us on the Halloween Special!

o   Ravenswood- first season premiere October 22nd  following PLL
This show is a spin off from PLL and Caleb will be starring in this show along with a recurring role in PLL.  This show, I think, is going to be on the darker side and way more mysterious than PLL but I think the tie in will be good.  I’m giving it a shot because the preview looks pretty suspenseful.

o   NCIS new season premiere September 24th and spoiler Zeva is leaving!
I love NCIS. I got hooked on it while in Iraq because out of the 5 channels that came in USA was one of them and they always have NCIS on.  I love the episodes with Zeva rather than Kate and I’m sad to hear she’ll be leaving the show.  I hope they replace her with someone equally as good.  I love all the characters on this show, each are unique and I love them all differently. LOL  I am excited for this season because the finale of last season really left us hanging.  I didn’t realize how many people love this show because it’s not super talked about but I’ve found that if I do bring it up people are always on the NCIS bandwagon.

o   Amazing Race season premiere Sunday Sept 29th
As we all know I LOVE the Amazing Race.  I’ve talked about it many times before HERE and HERE and many other times. LOL  I still vow that one day you’re going to see me on this show and who knows Hendrik might be my partner.  I think besides my girlfriends we would make a great team because we work well together and respect each other’s opinions as well as ask for each other’s input on things.  After browsing the CBS website and looking over the teams I’m going for the dating couple Jason & Amy and I also like the baseball wives Nicky & Kim.  Now this may change because last year I was wwwaaayyy wrong with my initial prediction at who was going to be a top team and it took me a while to find the groove of another favorite team and really root for them.  I'm going to cook etouffe for the premiere just like I did last year so it will be a night of treats!

o   Sons of Anarchy
FX has gone and outdone themselves…this show rivals True Blood when it comes to the sex and the scandal.  Hendrik is a SOA watcher and even got Direct TV just for the season premiere.  Before he was in no hurry…he’s been in his house for about 6 months now. LOL  That shows how important it is right there.  I’ve  just started watching this season (6) and I’m hooked.  I’m ready to go back from season 1 and watch from the beginning so I don’t have to ask so many questions but WOW these people are crazy, loyal, backstabbers, and drama!!!  If you don’t watch this show and don’t mind a little raunchy motorcycle club action then check it out. Oh and the main guy, Jax, has been cast as MR. CHRISTIAN GREY!

o   Vampire Diaries season premiere October 3rd
It seems like Vampire Diaries has been off the air for a year.  I love this show and have been watching it from the very beginning I’ve also read all the books that the show is originally based on.  Like True Blood the books vs. show are completely different but just as good in their own right.  Damon! Oh Damon!  Is there anything left to say….I think not.  Here's the perfect run down of what's happened...what's to happen!

o   Top Chef New Orleans season premiere October 2nd
Oh my.... like the Amazing Race I’ve watched Top Chef for years.  I can’t really remember when I first started watching or what got me hooked but I love it.  I love cooking and although the food that they cook is nowhere near my level I’m sure I’d like it if I ate it.  I also love how this show is based out of a different city each season.  This season is New Orleans and that makes it even better.  NOLA is on my wish list to go visit and explore on a super long weekend and this will only increase that craving.

Obviously by my list of shows I’m a loyal follower to shows that I love and have loved for years.  Another thing is that even though most of these shows have been on the air for a long time they are just as interesting and noteworthy as the first season was.  I guess that’s why they are hit shows and why I keep coming back for more.

What shows are you looking forward to watching this Fall season?

DIY: Cedar Plank Headboard

After I made the burlap lamp shades...see here....I knew immediately that to go with this room I needed to design an awesome outdoorsy but classy and not too gaudy headboard.  One of my best friends, Rachael, made a similar headboard in their new house from old barn wood.  I used her headboard as my inspiration and here's how it turned out!

I played around with the idea of using pallet boards and staggering them all different lengths to make the headboard but Hendrik wasn't crazy on that idea.  He thought it would be better if I used cedar planks that he had cut at his saw mill and I could absolutely work with that.  After I went and got a bed frame, set up the bed, and made the lamp shades I made the headboard in a couple hours last Monday afternoon before Hendrik got off work.  I have been so excited about this idea and couldn't wait a day longer to put it into action.

After work I stopped by my Moms to borrow a saw and extension cord.  Once to Hendrik's I unloaded my supplies and took the four wheeler over to the saw mill to pick through the planks to find the perfect ones.  It took me 3 trips to find planks that fit together and looked the way I had envisioned.  Since these were cut straight from a cedar tree they were nice and smooth along the edges up until a certain point then they started getting wavy.  This is great because it gives it a rustic look but sometimes the gap in between was too big and it looked sloppy.

Once I had my planks it was time to measure and cut them to the right length.  That part was easy and then all I had to do was nail the planks to my 1 X 4 legs.

I quickly took my newly made headboard into the house, moved the bed out from the wall, and nailed the headboard into place.

VOILA!

I love the way the headboard turned out and luckily Hendrik does too.  I think that it adds the perfect touch to the room and really brings all the elements together.  Along with the awesome vintage mustard chair I got at The Garage Sale in Mt. Pleasant.  He hates the color but I think that it actually works well with all the camo...either way the color is an easy fix and I can try out re-upholstery not to mention the comfort that comes with the "ugly chair" is out of this world :)

All I need now to finish off the bedroom is a matching night stand (from Ikea) and a few wall decorations which I have in mind I'm just waiting for it to cool down so I can get my supplies from Canton.

I'll be sure to post updated photos once I have completed his master bed and bath.  I can't wait to share....decorating is so much fun!

DIY: Burlap Lamp Shade

Hendrik built and moved into a brand new blank canvas house around April and it is the epitome of bachelor pad. No chairs, tables, bed was on the floor, camo couches, camo curtains, and nothing but beer and frozen pizzas in the frig. LOL  All that holds true still and it's September but slowly and surely I'm turning this bachelor pad into a cozy home for men.

If you have hung around me even the tiniest bit you'll know I love decorating and making my visions come true.  I especially love this when my boyfriend hands over his debit card for Saturday house shopping trips! :)  Hendrik is the typical guy, in he has really know idea what he needs or likes in a house.  This is his first house and is truly more worried about running his business than having the right window treatments....so being the awesome girlfriend I am I decided I would help him out and take that stress away from him.  I know him pretty well and know that even though he doesn't know exactly what he DOES want I do know things that he would NOT like.  So far I've done really well I think and I can't wait to finish all the rooms.  I have a complete vision and it's going to turn out awesome.

After getting a few things to make the house feel more at home I decided to start with one room...finish that room completely and then move onto the next so I can feel like I'm actually accomplishing something rather than just decorating tid-bits here and there.

Below is a little project I did that was super easy for the bedroom lamps we found at Wal-Mart one night.  They weren't what I would have picked out given all the other hunting décor around the casa but it is HIS house LOL and with all my other visions they have turned out to be a great addition.

When buying the lamps we couldn't decide on a shade that Hendrik liked so later in the week on my lunch hour I ran to Mineola Wal-Mart and bought to shades in the shape and size I wanted.  When I got home that day I ran to my office/craft room and knew immediately what would work as a new cover for these babies..... burlap coffee sacks I had snagged at Canton a few months back for $2 a piece.   It was super easy to measure and cut the length of sack I needed and I even cut the part of the sack that would allow me to use the nicely braided sack seam as the edging on the shade.

After that I revved up my hot glue gun and before I knew it I had third degree burns on a couple fingers and 2 rustic lamp shades!

What's in my bag?

I’ve been meaning to do this type of post for a while.  I always enjoy seeing what other people think is important enough to weigh their purse down and what I have going on in my purse right now is pretty important. LOL  Take a look….

  • Tape measure (not pictured)- I’ve been measuring, making, buying, and brainstorming like crazy for Hendrik’s house so a tape measure is really coming in handy lately. (I don’t normally have this in my bag but a recent necessity.)
  • Ramon noodles (not pictured...I had to eat them for lunch the day these pics were taken)- I always have a pack of noodles in my purse in case I forget my lunch in a mad rush in the morning for work.  They don’t take up a lot of space and it’s a sodium filled quick lunch while I’m hammering out my numbers.
  • Wallet- this of course is always with me with all the important cards, ID, and check book
  • Phone charger- I never know when my phone is going to need charging so I keep it handy at all times.  Not to mention hardly anyone has an iPhone 5 at work so if I die at work I’M DEAD! I can’t even fathom the horror!
  • Camera- I always keep my camera in my purse because my purse goes where I go therefore I’m guaranteed to capture great things….unless I’m too lazy to get it out and take pictures.
  • Personal care bag- this little beauty, I’ve had for quite a few years and it houses the normal folding hair brush, nail clippers, lip gloss, breath strips, lotion, feminine products, and Advil
  • Marble of the world- I got this around 7 years ago at the Dallas Museum of Art and I love it.  It’s a constant reminder that I have the whole world at my fingertips and it also reminds me to travel!  It’s probably the only non-useful thing in my purse.
  • Erin Condren Life Planner- like my purse my planner goes with me EVERYWHERE!  I stuff it in my bag and off I go to save the world. LOL
  • Things that also make an appearance certain times of the year like...school time is a financial calculator and a couple of mechanical pencils.

So there you have it… an intimate look into my bag and a peek into my life.

What’s in your bag?

Aidan or Big?

This question is always asked on The Everygirl for their featured ladies and I love seeing everyone’s answer.  I decided to do my own little answer to this because SATC and I have a long running love affair.  In high school my friend Callie and I were hooked and even before then I remember watching it faithfully (when I could get by with it at home).  It was and always will be one of my favorites.  I even own the entire series collection and sometimes put them in at night and watch some reruns.

So Big or Aidan was the question and my answer will always be BIG!  Let me explain….

I may act all hard and callous, which in most part I am, but when it comes to a significant other I’m a hopeless romantic through and through.
I’m a true girl in that aspect and love the passion, fire, and chemistry that Carrie and Big can never shake both romantically and in their friendship.  After all the breakup and mess-ups they were always coming back to each other until that one magical night in Paris when he finally swallowed his pride and confessed…Carrie you’re the ONE!
OOHHH makes my heart melt every time.
I want that BIG love in my life and I want my partner and I to have that unconditional love and chemistry that is always there.  Even though there are rough patches, hard times, and misunderstandings the BIG love that you share is always there.  Not to mention Big is a hard worker, realistic, and woos his woman when she least expects it all while being the MAN in the relationship.  I love it.
I hope one day I will be able to say that I’ve most definitely found my BIG LOVE and they feel the same about me!!! ;)
