At the Movies

Well I have been MIA lately but I have enjoyed just relaxing and getting a ton done around the house over the past couple weeks.  This past week was even better because I was on Spring Break from school.

Last Sunday Averie and I went to see Oz the Great and Powerful!

It was a great movie and even though it was rated PG I'm not sure small kids (Averie is 5) would really understand all of it.  The design of the movie was so beautiful and fantastical....think Alice in Wonderland by Tim Burton but prettier and not dark at all.

I knew when I saw the trailer that I wanted to see it and I made it happen.  It was a fun day spent with the witty Ave!

Saturday with Averie

Last Friday night Averie conned her way into spending the night with MAGAN (which is the way she says my name).  Of course I can't say no to her, so we gathered her things and headed home.  We watched movies and ended up falling asleep but Saturday morning after she slept in until almost 9 we got ready to start our day.  She was really concerned about collecting eggs from the chickens so after I braided her hair and we tried doing a puzzle we headed out to the coop and to feed the dogs.  She loved seeing the chickens and thought it was the coolest thing that they had eggs.

After the feeding was done we loaded up and headed to the donut shop.  She wanted a chocolate donut but they were pretty much out of everything so instead she go a HUGE chocolate twist and some chocolate milk.
After breakfast I had big plans to go to Sayadream and have Averie pick out something to paint for Shanna for Mother's Day.  When I went to turn down the street that the shop is on it was barricaded off!  Apparently the Winnsboro Spring Festival was in full swing last weekend and I didn' even know so not only were we going to get to paint but look around and do another fun activity.

I finally found a parking spot and the first booth we came up on was a little petting zoo.  Of course Ave went crazy wanting to go in so I paid the 5 bucks and off she went.  They had mostly farm animals but either way she loved it and I had to beg her to finally come out after a while in with the animals.  She especially liked chickens.  I don't know why she likes them so much but I guess she's like her aunt in that fact.
The goats were the funniest.  All they wanted was the food and they even knocked her little cup out of her hands because they were so aggressive.

They were also the friendliest

These little llama/alpaca things (not sure which) were pretty cute as well.
BUT for the grand finale of the petting zoo.................. the CHICKENS!!!!
This would be a frizzled chicken and I want one.  I have already told Lincoln and all my family that for either b-day or Christmas I want one of these.  They are so pretty and even though you can't tell in the picture their feathers are so silky and shiny.  I think she would make a perfect with all my other hens! :)
Once I coaxed Averie out of the petting zoo we hopped across the street to the art studio.  I figured that what we created that day wouldn't be ready until later on and I was right but that's ok because Averie had a great time creating her surprise for her Mom.  I picked up the finished product Thursday after work but didn't get any pictures of it.  It looked pretty much the same except the colors were more defined and it was shiny.  I recommend this little activity to anyone.  First off it was a whopping 8 dollars for this little project, it will last a lifetime, it's something you create yourself, and it's not just for kids.  The Sayadream studio even has ladies night which I would really like to do with a few of my gals.
Averie picked a heart to design.  She stenciled on couple flowers and a butterfly.

Hard at work.  It took a lot to get her to use other colors.  She wanted to do the whole heart in pink....designs and all.

Averie's art work

I helped do the other side.
We had a great day and I think Averie really enjoyed herself!

Dead Egg

Easter Sunday we hid some dyed eggs and some candy filled eggs around the yard for Averie to find.  She was running around collecting her eggs and every time she found a dyed egg she would holler that she found a DEAD EGG! LOL We all laughed and thought it was so cute and she thought because they were boiled and hard that they were now dead.

Well there is way more logic in that little 4 year's old head than all of ours because that is not what she meant at all.  That night Shanna (her mom) asked her why she keeps calling those eggs dead eggs?  and her answer was simple.... she said that her and Nana (my mom) had dyed them the night before so now they are dead!  Dying now Dead :)

No one but a 4 year old would think of things in such literal terms. LOL  I'm sure from now on all hard boiled eggs around our family will be referred to as dead eggs.

A Saturday with Averie

Saturday, after my gardening seminar I went to pick up Averie. We had a few hours to kill before the movie so she wanted to eat at Burger King because, of course, all she eats is chicken and they have the best. LOL After 6 nuggets and a bag of apples we headed out to Sulphur Springs. I figured since we had time to kill I would take her to the park called Kid’s Kingdom. I remember going to the park when I was little when it was new and it is a kingdom for kids. I remember being in awe of how awesome and fun it was. It felt like we played for hours and never came across the same section. Now, it seems average and after a few times of chasing Averie around we had covered all the grounds. LOL She didn’t know that though and to her she was in heaven. We ran away from monsters and did the monkey bars more than our fair share. LOL
part of THE KINGDOM

Cutest monkey around :)

She loved sliding down the pole. ;) We better watch this one. LOLOLOLOL I know so inappropriate!

After a couple hours of that we it was time for the movie so we headed over to the theater. The movie wasn’t as crowded as I thought but it was nice and really cool watching it in 3D. She really enjoyed the movie and looked really cool in her glasses. J The movie relaxed us both and when I left there around 4:30 I could have REALLY gone for a nap. BUT that didn’t happen instead we ran by my moms house to grab Averie a few things since we were having a slumber party that night.

Once we got to the house she wanted to make sugar cookies and frost them but I wasn’t up for the mess so instead we made chocolate chip. After cookies and pizza for supper it was bubble bath time. She got herself all clean just in time for a night filled with nail painting and movie watching.
Shanna came and picked her up around 10:30 Sunday morning. We had a great time but I’m glad I don’t do those types of trips every week, they wear me out.

Friday Night Lights...and I'm NOT talking Football

Friday after I got off work I rushed home to change clothes, get Hercules, and head to Lara and my brother's house to help decorate the tree.  I was in charge of the design LOL so after I rushed around I was off.  I stopped by Parker's Pizza by Vinyard's and grabbed supper for us.  I got to Lara's and we started in on the tree as we ate our fair share of pizza. Shanna dropped Averie off and my Mom showed up shortly to oversee the planning.  She never trusts my visions of design and is always SO surprised when it turns out wonderful.  LOL  I told her she needs to quit questioning and just trust.  Averie was quite the little helper globbing all her ornaments in one section while Lara and I went behind her replacing them. LOL  I remember when my Mom did that to us when we were kids.  They don't really grasp the idea.

Without further ado....

I love the tree topper and the glitter things coming out!

While we were laughing and decorating we noticed Ave's shoes!  All we could see was the little shiny black tips and knew they weren't her tennis shoes.  I told her to pull up her pants and this is what was under.....
SHINY BALLET FLATS AND FUZZY HELLO KITTY SOCKS! BAAHHHAAAA

She obviously dressed herself that day!

After I was done getting the fashionista on camera she wanted a picture with Nana.  Awe
That night miss fuzzy socks came home with me and Hercules to spend the night.  She has came over many time before but she always chickens out on spending the night.  Friday was our first slumber party and she never asked for Nana or Momma or no one.  We watched Wall-E and then about 30 minutes of Cars before we were out and dreaming of sugar plum fairies.  I didn't dream for long because I woke with two little feet jabbed into my side that stayed there the rest of the night.  If her feet were stuck in my rib cage she was wedged up beside me making not only herself but me sweat in our sleep.  We slept in until about 9 and then Lincoln got in bed.  He had worked nights and came in around 7 but was on the couch til we got up.  We had a great time and I'm thinking we will have many more slumber parties.

Miss Thang

Averie is my amazing niece, who I can never get enough of.  Just just turned 4 at the end of September and she just keeps on getting cuter and cuter.  Thursday she wanted to come play with me and Lincoln so Mom dropped her by the bank on her way to Caleb's ball game.  She helped me work for the last 15 minutes of the day and then we were off to Winnsboro.  We grilled out and played wiffle ball, ate apples ( that's about all she will eat), took a bath, watched Land Before Time, ate popcorn, and then it was time to go back to Nana's.  We had so much fun and as always she is a hoot to be around.

Hercules taking watch making sure he doesn't miss a thing.  NOSEY
Below are a few other pictures that I am finally getting around to posting of Averie.

Grocery shopping for cookie fixings with Magan back in March (LOL) instead of calling me Megan she says MAGAN.  Winnsboro Brookshires has these mini shopping carts for the kids and they are adorable.  Just her size.

Back in June jumping on the trampoline in her Tinkerbell get up.  I rigged one of Nana's bras to keep her wings strapped on LOL!!!!!

"What I'm just back here chilling in my seat with my upside down shades on the way to Nana's!"
She knows she is cool.
