Fall TV

I don't know about you but I am excited for a few of my favorite shows to return after the summer break and some even longer than that.

Premiering Sunday September 30th....drum roll please....
The Amazing Race

I have watched pretty much every season of this show since it has began and I never tire of it.  I am still just as obsessed...and if I must admit a bit more obsessed each season.  Now I have an obsession friend, Kaylynn, who loves the show just as much as me.  We are even having her and Casey come over Sunday night for the premiere and a little Cajun cooking!  I can't wait and hopefully this year her and I will make the audition.  We both are dying to be on that show!

Next, pPremiering October 8th....
....Gossip Girl
Tear :( this is the last season of Gossip Girl.  I got hooked on this show when I was in Iraq and have loved it from episode one.  I really hope that since this is the last season that all my favorite couples end up happy...mainly just Chuck and Blair.  I think there's going to be fireworks this go around and I don't mean celebratory ones. ;)

Last, premiering October 11th......
Vampire Diaries.....

I don't know about you but how can you not love this show with all the mystery, supernatural creatures, and lets not forget Damon Salvatore along with the entire sexy cast.  I can't wait to see what this season has in store for the love triangle.  I hear Elena is going to be a Vampire!

I'll be tuning in what about you?

Fall To Do List

I hope it starts to cool off soon because I'm really ready to get going on my Fall activities.  I get to mark off one next weekend for sure but I hope to accomplish a lot more of these.....
1 Have a date night and see Taken 2- *update* missed it in theaters going to have to wait until DVD

This movie looks amazing.  We loved the first one so I'm anxious to see how this one turns out.  I think this would make a great middle of the week dinner and a movie date!

2 Go to the Texas State Fair- completed October 8, 2012

I haven't been to the state fair in years and only one time in my life.  I was little and went to the dairy show...fun I know.  I want to go and experience the heart attack that's been fried food and the over priced rides. YES!
3 Terror Trails- its probably been 5 years since I went to Terror Trails with a group of friends and this year I told Lincoln I for sure want to get some people together and hit it up in the month of October.  My best memory of Terror Trails is when NaShae and I went when we were probably 3rd grade, not sure really but her Dad took us. We laughed so hard I'm pretty sure something edible came from our noses and we sang Strawberry Wine at the top of our lungs.  Oh too be young again. LOL
4 Attend NaShae & Ryan's house warming/ gender reveal party-  Speaking of NaShae next weekend I am heading to Benbrook to see NaShae's new home which knowing her is bound to be A-MAZE-ING and also cut the cake to find out if their new addition is a boy or girl.  To top it off Piper and I are staying at NaShae's that night for a slumber party.  It's going to be so much fan, as it always is when we are all together.  We will get to visit and spend some QT before the baby gets here and we all get absorbed back into our own lives.  completed October 6, 2012
5 Get-a-way in Oklahoma- On the 19th me, Lincoln, Casey, Kaylynn, Lara, and Colby are heading up to Beaver's Bend for a cabin getaway.  I can't wait for the HOPEFULLY cool air, changing leaves, hiking, and wine drinking. completed thru October 21, 2012
6 Repaint trim on house- I have only had the 5 gallons of paint for the past 6 months! So in the next few weeks I plan on enlisting my brother's help and getting the outside of the house repainted...its just the trim and the porch not like the walls, which are brick, whew...thank goodness because that would be a job!
7 Hike/walk the Mineola Nature Preserve

It is Texas so there's not much "hiking" here in the Eastern part but whatever.  A girl at work was telling me about this little gem and I think it would make a great Saturday afternoon trip or whenever.  Bring a sack lunch and wear your sneakers.  Plus it's only like 25 miles away from home.
8 Visit Lake Bob Sandlin State Park for camping, bike riding, or trail walking
9 Camp in the backyard- The weather was so cool and breezy a few weeks ago I told Lincoln that one night we needed to pitch the tent in the backyard and enjoy the nice weather.  It's the best kind of camping... no packing, no extra grocery shopping...just set up and in the morning run back to the house and eat a hot breakfast.   Sounds like a perfect plan!
10 Make many fires in the fire pit and roast marshmallows- this goes right along with my camping in the backyard.
11 Carve pumpkins- I love carving pumpkins even though I'm not the best artist.  completed October 23, 2012

Stay tuned for posts that prove I'm accomplishing my Fall To Do List.

HAPPY FALL YA'LL!

Want List #2

After posting my first want list, a few days later it dawned on me that UUHHH I had forgot some pretty important things that I had been thinking about...
so here ya go!

this sports watch

THIS Fossil purse
For the past 2 years I have bought myself a little birthday present and I might do the same this year if I don't get this amazing bag from someone who loves me.  I used to be obsessed with buying purses, just ask my mom, but as I've grown up there are more important things to buy and save for (rain gutters) so the extravagances of personal style suffer but that's my own choice and one I'm perfectly fine with.  Any who I love this bag and I have been carrying the SAME purse for almost a year now...GASP....
I know the horror!!!

I would love all the Pioneer Woman's cookbooks and a little road trip to her ranch if possible.  I love watching her show on Saturday mornings as I drink my coffee.  Sometimes you can tell she is a bit uncomfortable in front of the camera because her lines seem a little rehearsed but her recipes are always good and is something I would actually cook and people around my parts would actually eat. It's nothing Martha Stewart fancy....you know what I mean?  I also follow her blog and she has some good stuff on there and it's also more herself...or what I perceive to be herself. LOL
This amazing pair of tennys Nike Air Max+ 2012

Well I do believe that's all I have now folks!

Weightloss Wednesday....On Thursday

I was absorbed in doing my finance homework last night so I didn't get around to posting me results from the past week on Wednesday but Thursday is just as good and I sort of like going with the theme. LOL
Since last week I have lost 2 lbs, worked out 4 times, and ate better.  I am getting motivated at working out again and I'm ready to push it.  I'm really motivated to accomplish my 10 lbs goal and I believe I can do it.

10 lbs
  - 2 lbs
                  8 lbs remaining

I can't see much of a difference by looking but I can tell a difference in the way I feel.  I hope next week I will REALLY be able to tell.

GO ME!

Weight Loss Wednesday...on Thursday

I have been struggling with my body for a while now. I haven’t worked out consistently for almost 2 years now and I’m starting to be able to REALLY tell. I’m not gaining weight but my muscle density has changed and just the way I’m put together is changing. Overall I’m not that unhealthy…we don’t eat out a lot, I cook most of our own meals at home, but I do sit all day at work and then when I get home I sit more, I also need to cut the sodas and excess of that nature. I don’t feel good about myself and I know that I need to be working out just to stay healthy. Even though I haven’t “gained” weight I would still like to get to a more comfortable weight for myself.

This isn’t a pity post and yes I know to most people I am skinny but this isn’t for everyone else this is for myself and for ME a comfortable and healthier weight that makes me feel good is 130 give or take. Right now my weight is 141 and I plan on losing 10-11 pounds and toning myself back up in one month. So last night after gorging myself on McDonalds and walking a few miles with the dogs I had had it with myself. I put on the most unflattering outfit and told Lincoln to take some pictures of me that will help me hold myself accountable. What I found when I looked at the camera afterwards really disgusted me. I couldn’t believe the way I looked…and this is me not holding anything back…there was no sucking in, no anything just me standing there like I would any other time. YIKES! If that isn’t motivation I don’t know what is. My main problem areas are like most women…the region from right under my boobs down to my knees which pretty much amounts to stomach, butt, and thighs. These areas are the target areas that I really want to see some change in but toning the rest of my body will be awesome too.

So following along with Ms. Kristen and many others…I’m posting this to hold myself accountable and I will post every Wednesday until my goal is met or just until I feel like I’m where I want to be.  I took my first set of pictures on the 19th which just so happens to be 1 month from our couples get-a-way to Oklahoma. This is perfect timing and gives me something realistic to look forward to.

Overtime=Overweight: Dolly (Pardon) had the right idea when she sang “9 to 5”. In one study, women who worked 35 hours or more a week were more likely to pack on pounds over the course of two years. The average gain was about 6 percent of body weight- nine pounds for a 145 pound woman!

San Antonio

I have been itching to take a trip…

any trip...

to anywhere for quite some time now.

It’s really hard to make plans when I only have a regular weekend but Labor Day gave us, bankers, a long weekend and I wanted to take full advantage of it. I have been dying to use my Marriott reward points so I planned a long weekend trip to San Antonio and talked my Mom into going with me. Lincoln was working nights so this was the perfect time to get away since he really wouldn’t miss me TOO much. LOL

I had been to San Antonio a long time ago and faintly remember going to Sea World but I don’t recall much else. I thought it would be a nice trip and there would be plenty of sights to see so I booked the hotel and put together a mock itinerary for us.

We left out around 4:45 AM and headed down. We arrived at the Courtyard Marriott San Antonio Riverwalk around 11:30…perfect timing as to keep to our packed itinerary.

After throwing down our bags and Mom putting on our walking shoes we headed out to eat lunch and roam the Historic Market Square area.
San Fernando Cathedral
On our way we stopped at the San Fernando Cathedral which was our view from our hotel room. It is said to be the oldest known cathedral in the U.S.

We at lunch at la Margarita and it was pretty good. Our waiter was a really funny older Mexican guy and of course I over stuffed myself. I was miserable for the next hour or so.
clockwise: Mom and I at lunch our first day, the menu, our burgers that evening, the restaurant we ate at the fist night, the restaurant we ate at the second night, and last is the sign of the restaurant we wanted to try but was closed on Sundays

This part of San Antonio is like a Mexican Canton and it was so full of life. I forget how Mexicans are so fun and colorful as people and a culture. They were dancing in the streets, kids running all over, and just an all-around fun fest. I found Lincoln and myself a San Antonio t-shirt for souvenirs and Mom found a few things for the boys too.

OMG! see story below
Mom and I people watched a whole lot on this little trip and OMG some of the women we saw I was like WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY THINING!?
I’m not a fashionista by any means but I certainly know what is appropriate for any age and let me tell you….middle age and up women have been watching too much reality TV or something. Their idea of what is appropriate is so off base it’s unreal.
Point in case…
This lady had on VERY tight white short, a lace, again too tight, sleeveless top, and flipflops!
This is only one case out of many. I am really going to try to keep this in mind as I age and even now because there is a fine line to looking attractive and looking just wrong.

After the Historic Square we decided to rest our food, cool off, and take a quick nap before our night of fun began. We were pooped! Between walking in the heat and getting up so early to travel we were pretty exhausted the entire weekend.

Once we were refreshed from our nap we headed out to walk up and down the Riverwalk and enjoy just being there. We planned on taking a river cruise after dinner so we talked about what we wanted to eat. I wanted something light and fresh after the heavy Mexican lunch so we settled on an American cuisine at a restaurant called Republic of Texas. It was right on the Riverwalk and the breeze was so nice. We enjoyed a long supper watching everyone walk and boat past. Our waitress was again really nice and Mom and I both settled on some really good hamburgers. Not the light meal I was wanting but it was really good. There was sort of a theme for our food for the weekend each day we had Mexican and burgers. LOL It worked for us…when in Rome!

A poor little duck was trying to rest by our dinner table and he was all snuggled into himself and he kept dozing off then getting woken up. LOL It was pretty funny to watch so we had to take a picture.

After dinner we headed back to the walk to get in line for our river cruise. The wait wasn’t too long and the cruise was really nice. It’s a good way to see the entire Riverwalk without walking 6 miles and you also learned so interesting facts about the river and San Antonio.

After the cruise I think we were both pretty pooped and relaxed so we made our way back to the room and were showered and under our cozy comforters by 10:30. We needed our rest for our big day coming up.

Sunday morning we got going pretty early to beat the crowd at the Alamo. We walked on over and actually were a tad early since it didn’t open until 9. I couldn’t wake up so we got some coffee and Mom a Diet Coke at a little convenient store/coffee shop. The Alamo was cool but not really what I had expected. It was way smaller than what I would have thought but it was neat seeing all the artifacts and we got a lot of pictures for my brother who loves history.

Once we were done with the Alamo we walked over and through HemisFair Park to go to the top of the Tower of the America’s that was built for the world fair. On our way through the park we stopped to take a few pictures at some waterfalls and fountains.

The ticket to get in was a bit pricey at almost $11 but it included the ride up, a 4-D movie about Texas, and the armband you received lasted all day so if you wanted to go and view the city at night then that would be cool. We just went during the day and then viewed the movie. It was really neat and you could all the way around and view the city from all angles. The only downfall is there is only 1 elevator that takes you up and back down so you have to wait a long time and they only let on 7 people at a time. Sort of unorganized but whatever.
Tower of Americas

Once back on the ground level we went into the 4-D movie which gave an overview of all the areas of Texas. Your seats moved and they squired air and water in your face for effect. Mom got the crap scared out of her when a fake snake struck the back of your neck and also its tail slapped the back of your legs as it was leaving the screen. I laughed so hard. I would go back to wear those super cool glasses. LOL After the tower we walked the llloonnnggg way back to find some lunch.

We planned on eating lunch at a German restaurant that I had read about and also that Mom spied in a magazine but once we got there it was CLOSED! We were so ready to eat a big juicy Reuben sandwich but had to settle for Fudruckers. POO! We are so used to all things being open on Sunday we didn’t even check to see what their hours were. There is always next time and I think that eating at that restaurant constitutes a trip back. I hadn’t ever eaten at Fudruckers but it definitely didn’t disappoint. Their cook to order burgers were flavorful and very juicy for a chain restaurant. They also had a super fancy coke machine that had every customer dumbfounded. After lunch we just wondered the streets back to the hotel. We had done pretty much everything downtown there was to do and wanted to do so we headed back to the hotel for yet another rest before dinner.

Mom on the Selena bridge

One of the buildings that I had spied all along ended up being a piece of our cruise. As soon as you come from underneath a bridge if you look directly up at the building it looks just like a brick wall. The way it was built gives the illusion that the wall is freestanding. It was really neat and I tried getting a picture that would capture the illusion.

We decided to eat supper at the famous and original first Mexican restaurant on the Riverwalk, Casa Rio. We had to wait for a table for almost 45 minutes but it went by fast since we were visiting and people watching. The weather wasn’t as nice Sunday night as it was Saturday night, it was pretty warm and muggy still so thankfully we got a table inside. The food was ok. Their menu was pretty minimal and to be so well known I was really expecting more. I’m glad I experienced it but probably wouldn’t go back. After dinner Mom wanted to walk to the far end of the river down where the mall is to see if there was a live band. There wasn’t but it was a nice walk to a part we hadn’t been yet. On the way back we stopped and got a 4 buck ice cream…again I don’t recommend it and headed back to the hotel.

We were up and gone by 6:30 Monday morning and were home by lunch.

All in all it was a great trip and Mom and I had a lot of fun. We probably walked 20 miles in 2 days but it was nice all weekend hot but not unbearable. I’m glad we spent that time together especially since school was fixing to start and life was going to be getting busy.

Mom suggests the next girl trip we take it be to Eureka Springs, Arkansas!

That should be fun.
